Wanzhou (previously known as Wanxian), it is a small city of around 2 million people. It is at about the halfway point between Chongqin and Yichang, and has been an important river port for centuries. |

You may visit silk-weaving factories and the Three Gorges Museum( including a hanging coffin, a relic of the Ba people) and enjoy the exiting acrobatic show and take a leisurely tour of busy local market. Visitors can see city's ten free markets sells local produce and seasonal delicacies such as mountain mushrooms or live eels. There was a community of foreign missionaries in Sichuan before 1949, and two churches -one Catholic and one Protestant-continue to draw sizeable congregations of country folk. |

Today, Wanxian is an important port and industrial center. Wanxian tangerines, oranges and peaches are renowned throughout China. The city‘s silk-spinning and weaving industries are well known in the Yangtze Gorges region. There is a free market in town where local products and crafts are sold. We get a chance to walk through the market. |
